How to use this tool

    About this tool

    Validate, format or minify JSON with clear error messages.

    Enter your values, run the tool and check the result before relying on it.

    Method and example

    The formatter parses valid JSON and serializes it with two-space indentation or no extra formatting. It does not repair invalid syntax or validate an application-specific schema.

    {"name":"Ada","scores":[8,9]} becomes a readable object with an indented scores array. A trailing comma after 9 is invalid JSON.

    Before you use the result

    • Use double quotes for property names and strings; comments and trailing commas are not accepted.
    • Do not use formatting as a lossless archive for duplicate property names or very large integers. JavaScript parsing can discard duplicate keys and lose integer precision.

    Worked example

    JSON
    {"hello":"world","items":[1,2,3]}
    Output
    Pretty print (2 spaces)

    Result for this example

    {
      "hello": "world",
      "items": [
        1,
        2,
        3
      ]
    }
